I like running around FFXIV Eorzea and reading all the little bits
So I like running around Eorzea and reading all the little bits and pieces of writing I can find. You can find some interesting or even misspelled things.
- The signs for the Bronze Lake hot springs say a different name than what the NPCs call it. The signs call it the Sanatorium whereas the FFXIV NPCs call it the Sanitorium. The definition is the same but the change is still something interesting.
- Did you know the posters on the Market boards are backwards?
Anyhow, in todays live letter they showed the new dungeons and bosses in them. One of which is a giant demon book. The letters on its page will be clearly visible when you are in the ffxiv dungeon. So I thought it would be great to take a screenshot and translate them. Of course since FFXIV Heavensward hasn't come out yet I only had the trailer to work with.
Well turns out what I could translate came out as complete gibberish to me. I was shocked that they may have put in such a huge page of actual text and yet it mean absolutely nothing. After digging a little deeper though it might still be something.
Turns out some of the words I managed to convert actually are words just in different languages rather then English like everything I've found before in the game. I've come across some German, Welsh, and Indian words so far.
Sadly though there is a problem. I can't get a clear enough and large enough picture to finish converting the text on the page to make any coherent sentences. The letters are also too small to make out the intricate markings of them. Is that an S or an A, I or a L, V or Y, B or G, etc.
The words in the book may still be complete gibberish but there is a chance they could also be one heck of a cool discovery.
If it is complete gibberish though I will feel incredibly let down by the person who wrote it. Specially after the Zodiac quest items having the tale of the zodiacs embossed on the paper, which was an amazing touch.
If this thread is still here when FFXIV Heavensward comes out and I get to that dungeon myself I will still translate it of course. I just thought people might want to know about this and may find it interesting or maybe have better luck with this then myself.
Final Fantasy XIV PvP is designed around the idea that casters are insanely dangerous
In PvE, casters mostly just Final Fantasy XIV dps. In PvP, casters become mostly about crowd control. No one is worried about BLM’s dps

ff14gilhub:This is proven in the original opening movie to FFXIV 1.0
their physical body is still present, but unresponsive - to others, it's as if they're currently dozing in a very vivid daydream (this is proven in the original opening movie to FFXIV 1.0, where after Derplander snaps back to reality his elezen friend quips, "Look whose returned from his reverie!" - a 'reverie' is an archaic word for a daydream.
Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV, FF14) Twelveswood
As adventurers we're not actually 'setting up shop and staying there', we're pledging allegiance to that city (in this case, Gridania) and doing work for them, but apart from staying in the Inn Room we're pretty much transient and are not actually settling in the forest

Whenever a new submenu item is added, it gets added to the top of the submenu. Great if you're going by the "We want people to notice and use their new menu options" theory
